Rationale: A rationale for the incorporation of Technology Competencies into the professional repertoire of the school psychologist is provided at http://spsy.educ.kent.edu/technology/index.htm

Audit Method: Skills in technology competency are audited within 'Integrating Experience’ (SPSY 6/77980). This is a simple procedure and one that should take no  more than an hour or two to complete. Each student simply identifies where a ‘product’ displaying that skill may be located.  Typical locations will be within personal websites, Professional Portfolios, or in class-created products.  In most cases a reference to the location of the skill is all that is needed (for example, when referencing a product within a website you have produced); however, if the product was created for a class (e.g., a spreadsheet) then a print version may need to be appended to the support file. The audit document is the completed table (see page: Technology Competencies) with the relevant locations included.  Where you have a document within a website the full ‘string’ should be included (e.g., www.caven.org/documents/my_name.htm).  If a document is within a Portfolio then the page number or section needs to be identified.  It should not be required that a hunt be started to find the example.

Deadline: The 6/77980 is not finally completed until after the presentation, on campus and/or at NASP.  Consequently, the support materials for demonstrating competency acquisition really could wait until early Spring.  Nonetheless, for most interns the competencies are fully in place by the end of class work prior to internship.  It would, therefore, be best to gather these together and complete the Audit File as soon as possible as one means of clearing-the-decks.  My suggestion is that you print the page referenced below (Technology Competencies) and use the paper version to collect the information.  Then, you can insert that into the Word file as text.  You may reformat the text and table in any way that best displays your products and skill acquisition. A print version of the Word file would then be provide to caven as verification of your completion of these steps.

I also suggest that you tweak the Word file and include a version of it within your Professional Portfolio ―as one more piece of summary evidence that you’re a well-trained technologically competent school psychologist! Technology Competencies
