In a typical week I
have scheduled Day Time Office Hours times on
Tuesdays &
Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. through noon, plus the afternoon on Wednesdays
[Except on
days when Intern-on-Campus, OSPA/NASP Conference meetings, Interuniversity
Council of School Psychology trainers', program admission meetings,
faculty advisory meetings, final-exam week & university-closures are scheduled].
I can also meet at
other mutually compatible times.
I won't be available when the university offices are closed for snow-days.
 |
Sometimes I get
tied up & the best-laid plans go astray: It is always to our mutual benefit
if you're planning to visit, for you to e-mail me in advance―that way if
I've been called away for any reason then I can alert you with as much
notice as I've
received. |

Messages left in my 405 White Mailbox get priority for a
return call (330.672.2928, Voicemail attached). The fastest response always will be for messages left at <caven@kent.edu>
since these messages are most frequently accessed.

Emergency Meetings & the Need to Plan:
In an emergency, my cell 'phone number is 330.348.9369.
My home number is 330.871.4781.
Typically, I return routine 'phone calls inside 24 hours;
calls identified as 'emergencies' are always returned immediately I
get the message. My personal 507c White Hall office FAX number is 330.672.2675;
it is confidential. Messages
sent to the EFSS departmental Fax number are 'public' and typically do NOT reach my
mailbox for several days―so always use the personal Fax number.
Keep in mind that I can only access this fax machine while I'm
physically in the White Hall office.
'By appointment' meetings may be
possible at times other than those indicated here;
however, there
are very few times other than those indicated above when I am able
to schedule a meeting. Like most people I work in the day and have
family obligations in the evening. Typically I have child care
obligations every evening. With an
array of alternative times to meet and various ways for contacting
me (and except for emergencies) I will avoid having
'office-meetings' for routine matters at times other than
those scheduled & indicated above. Emergency meetings will, of
course, always be arranged to cope with specific unforeseen
circumstances. A failure-to-plan does not normally constitute an
'Emergency.'
Consequently, it is crucial that arrangements be made in advance
particularly for class scheduling and other reasonably-anticipated
routine purposes. All meetings, unless arranged previously,
will be in my office at Room 507c White Hall.
