Dates for On-Campus Meetings: The dates for the Fall and Spring meetings for 'Issues & Approaches in School Psychology' are noted in the left margin.  In addition to these meetings you should make sure that you coordinate your calendar with the NASP Annual Convention and the Columbus Intern Institute (Intern Pre-Licensure Orientation Conference).

Please advise your field facilitator of the dates for the on-campus meetings. Keep in mind that attendance at these meetings is an integral part of your Internship responsibilities, and not optional based on workload or other similar factors. The class instructor and the program coordinator, together, will handle the determination of whether an exception should be made to this rule. At least one week of notice is needed for making such a consideration. First approach Caven if you believe that an adjustment is warranted.

You should plan to attend from 9:00 a.m. through 4 p.m.; the meetings will begin promptly at 9:00 so you’ll need to make appropriate allowances for parking, etc. The lunch-break will rarely be more than 1 hr. 15 minutes ― and so lunch plans must allow for the notoriously slow service in Kent’s fine-dining establishments.

The Posting of Grades: Final changed-grades acknowledging successful completion of the Internship will not be posted until mid-June when your contract with the district employer is complete, and the summative evaluation for the internship experience has been received by the university from district personnel, and all ‘internship products’ are in and evaluated as complete. At that time grades will be directed through the KSU system with a 'flag' to expedite handling indicating that they are "needed for Summer III graduation." Thus, they will not likely appear on transcripts, based on the Registrar's Office ability to process the 'change-of-grade' forms, until the early July (a date beyond our ability to influence). It's not appropriate to apply for Ed.S. graduation at the end of Spring Semester since grades for internship won’t be posted until after mid-June.  Please keep this calendar in mind as you plan on requesting transcripts, etc.

Healthy Snacks During Campus Meetings: Let's develop a tradition that will continue throughout the  year ... food at on-campus meetings! You might consider creating a schedule for snacks & beverages. This has worked in prior years to bring comfort to what might otherwise feel like a long day in a single location.  So don't forget the healthful snacks/goodies/munchies for each session! Is there a volunteer who will agree to manage the schedule?

Professionalism: It is critical that you review your @kent.edu e-mail regularly. Timely receipt and response to messages from the university is a criterion reflecting professionalism. Please make a plan to access your e-mail no less frequently than every third day.
